TOPICS OF THE TURF. Wednesday morning was again unfavorable for training, but practically all horses with engagements were exercised. Royal Heather and Perle de Rouge were exercised, but were not asked to do much. The former is now on the up-grade and will run good races. Perle de Rouge met with -a mishap' recently which will prevent her from showing her best form. Chaplin (W. Goscomb) did a couple of rounds steadily and bears a healthy appearance. Ngawati (McTlrby) and Automaton (Nixon) did* steady work; both look pretty right.- - . Red Autumn did a, light task. Beech worth (Nixon) and Tliisyartjui (Leach) ran five furlongs in 1.7 3-5. Mangatoetoe (Olive) did two rounds at half-pace. . . Jeanette (Mcl.lroy), Waioeka Jack ("Nixon) and Hampton Court (Leach) finished 1 in that order over four furlongs, run in 50 2-5, the first in 13sec. Ciymbeline (Andrews) did steady work. Cohesion (Leach) and The Author (Nixon) ran four furlongs in 50 1-5, finishing on terms. Carniola (Fanning) went a round freely. Garzon (Olive) went two rounds at half-pace. Highwav (Leach) and Night Gambler (Mcllroy) covered four furlongs in- 1. Polar (Atkins) was 7iot extended. White Fang met with a slight mishan on Tuesday. Barrier (Dunn), Pita (Atkins) and Blue Jay (Greene) finished in that order over five furlongs in 1.4 2-5. Silver fish (Parker) and Grandiose (Dunn) did steady pacing. Polydannis (Atkins) and Monte (V. Wilson) did steady pacing. Evensong (Andrews) sprinted homo after a slow round. Vivo (Greene) got over four furlongs in 51 and gives promise of being u=eful later in the season. Sophia (Andrews) and Merry Flyer (Dunn) ran three furlongs in 38. The latter was having his lrst sprint and went in an encouraging ■■ manner. Startle (Atkins) and Cool Card (Dunn) did steady pace work. Serenade did slow work on the lead. Radio worked fit the Park. This well-bred gelding has been responsible for some fast schooling and has also galloped well. Radio is a very much imrroved horse. R. Butterworth and A.
