OPENS TO-DAY, The Poverty Bay A; and P. Show opens to-day. With the farmers- it is practically the event of the year, and all make their utmost!' endeavor to. be present on at least one of the'days.' Already a large number 'of visitors are to’ be. seen about the town .and there is every indication that, given fine weather, the attendance on both (lays will be a. record .one. A most com-, prohensive ; array of ; attractions have been arranged and entries compare favorably with ether yearsewffiecord entries have been received for the competitions, and it is pleasing to note that, according to. the 'entries received, there should he a great improvement in thy Standard of some of the stock exhibited. , L . A feature of special interest to town and country visitors alike will be the dog trials, which will be commenced at 10 a.m. to-day. For this class, only twelve entries have been received. but they are stated to represent some of the. best dogs in the disti ict and good vvork should be put up by the different competitors. In addition to local dogs, entries have been received from the Bay or Plenty and Hawke’s Bay districts. „ , The trade exhibits will be a feature of the Show and the side-shows will prove a centre of attraction, as record booking space has been registered for-this purpose. , A musical programme will be contributed on both days by the Gisborne City Band. In order to give country people every chance of being present, special trains will be run on Wednesday and late trains will be run on both lines,
