The Greeks continue to hold a long strip of Bulgarian territory to a depth of. five' miles stretching from Petntch across the St/uma Valley towards Tevrpkop. According to* the limes special correspondent on; the spot, shells were stiff failing "iff Petritch on Saturday' evening.'So far the Bulgarians have not resisted the Greeks but the correspondent points out that they at any moment .might begin to do so in spite of orders to the contrary from L.>ria. LONDON, Oct. 2-5. The Greek Legation denies the Bulgarian statement that Petritcli was bombarded. The Greeks merely entered Bulgaria for the; purpose of forcing the retirement of the Bulgarians who have not yet evacuated Greece. . SOFIA, Oct, 2-5. The Greeks are advancing in the direction of Melnik. GENEVA, Oct. -25. The Greek action has caused a painful impression in League circles, where it is believed the Dictator Pangalos is directly challenging the League because he finds a coup necessary to maintain his prestige which is threatened owing to dissatisfaction with his regime. The Daily Alail points out that of the Royalists are successful at the municipal elections in Athens which are now proceeding, the abolition of the Republic and the restoration of the Monarchy will be possible. It asks: “Where is Pangalos lidding the money for the war ? Greece is already in a precarious financial position and is only enabled to carry on by the League of Nations sponsoring her 1924 loan amounting to twelve millions, of which Britain contributed 7J millions.—Sun. Colonel Kalfoff, Foreign Alirister, replying to AI. Briand’s telegram, states that the Bulgarian Alinister, at Paris will represent Bulgaria at a meeting of the League Council. He expresses profound gratitude to the Bulgarian Government for the early in ter ven tim of the League in a conflict which, he declares,' originated through a Greek invasion of Bulgaria. He reiterates that the Bnlgars have not entered Greece-—Reuter.
