MAORI DIOCESE

APPROVED BY' AUCKLAND SYNOD.. AUCKLAND, Oct. 23. At the annual meeting of the Diocesan. Synod, Archdeacon Hawkins moved that a resolution be forwarded to the General Synod, expressing approval of the proposal to form a Maori diocese. He said that if formed the new diocese would have thirtyfive e’ergy to beg n with. It was felt by some that there m'ght he a division of the unity now supposed to exist between the Maor s and Europeans. This unity was, however, more theoretical than real. Or.e advantage of the proposed diocese was that it would give the Maoris greater opportunities for self-expres-sion in their rel g .on. The discussion was adjourned.— P.A. ,
