POWER BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of the i overty Bay Power Board was. held on Saturday, when there were present: Messrs F. R. Ball (chairman), George Wildish, C. 11. Bridge, A. 0. Steele, T. Todd, O. H. Williams, T. Corson, F. S. Bowen, I. Mirfield, B. J. Holdsworth. The Consulting Engineer (Mr. H. F. Toogood) was also in attendance. A letter was received from the New Zealand Insurance Company stating that tho company had now arranged to lease their offices which they had. offered to the Board, and that the offer was, therefore, cancelled.—iTJie letter was received. An intimation . that the recentlyformed committee of the Power Board secretaries was established to promote co-ordination in the work common to all suppliers was contained in a letter received from the chairman of that body. The letter further stated that it was considered that a conference of secretaries should bo arranged occasionally for an interchange of views, and it was proposed to hold one of these conferences in November at which tho Board was invited to be represented and to submit remits for a consideration.—Tho Board decided to consider the matter at a later date.

Information concerning the plant to bo purchased for the borough plant was contained in letters received from Messrs Templin and Toogood and the borough electrical engineer. Mr. Wildish said that the question of add’tions to the municipal plant would be considered by a committee of the Borough 'Council on Monday. Mr. Toogood stated that it had been them desire to send the specifications to England some weeks ago. Mr. Wildish explained that the delav was due to the loan proposals being altered to provide for the expenditure of an extra £6OOO. and the Council had vet to agree to this add’tion.
