SEVERE THUNDERSTORM IN TIAIARU. HEAVY SNOW IN INVERCARGILL. (PRESS ASSOCIATION.) TIAIARU, Sept. 5. Shortly before midnight a severe hail-storm broke over a _ portion of Timaru, lasting twenty minutes. Some of the stones were as large as marbles, causing much damage to spring flowers and glass houses in the- area affected. Hail lay two or three inches deep this morning, but quickly melted. Telephonic communication wns interrupted for a time. INVERCARGILL, Sept. 0. Heavy snow fell during the nightand this morning. The ground was covered to a depth of about a foot. Fortunately, lambing is not general yet, and there are signs of it clearing. It is thirty years since a similar fall occurred.
