NEWS OF ALGAESSON'vS ARCTIC
VESSEL. (Received Sept. 5, 11 p.m.) OLSO, Sept. 4. Algers son’s ship _ Island was discovered partially disabled by engine trouble off Victoria Island a month, ago, according to the Aftenpost. Algarsson declined the Italian exploration ship Quest’s offer of help, stating that he was determined to attempt to make land imder sail. But, last week, he’ was sighted In almost, the same spot. On.pt. Peretti. master of the Quest, - expresses the opinion, that Algars- ; son’s equipment, and personnel are in-i adequate for Arctic work. He says the. season is at present.-reyv -severe. Algarsson orirnnally intended an agroplane expedition to, the Pole, hnfc abandoned the idea in favor of scientific work around Spitsbergen. '
