REMARKABLE PERFORMANCE OF SMALL BRITISH CAR. At 1.20 this morning an Austin seven h.p. drew up at the 1 ost Office, Auckland, after having successfully completed a rum-stop run from Auckland to Wellington and back (states the Star). The car left Auckland at 2 a.m. on Thursday last, being driven for the down journey by Air. Phil Seabrook, accompanied by Air Lackland as observer. Hamilton was reached at 6.10 a.m., Te Kuiti at 0 a.m., Alokau at 12.20 p.m., Havrera at 5.15 p.in., Wanganui sit 7Ao .. /a n 1 -’-iday, making p.m., and G.P.O. r , Wellington, at 2 p.m. the time exactly 24 hours. The same route was followen on the return journey, and this distance was again accomplished without a hitch of any kind, not even a puncture. The petrol consumption works out at exactly 50 miles per gallon.
