A fornml statement hv President Cailcs has been given to the press hv Foreign Secretary Seen/, Balingwith a statement made by the United States Secretary of State. Kellogg, respecting the relations he tv con tae United States and Mexico. Mr. Kel’ogg declared that the Government of Mex’co was on trial before the world and that the United States wou’d continue to support the Mexican Government only so long as it protected'the lives of the citizens of the United States and complied with its international obligations. To this the Mcx’can statement replies: “If the Government of Mexico, as affirmed, Is now on its trial before the world, such is the case with the United States Government as wol as those of other countries. But, il it is to be understood that Mexico is on trial in the guise of a defendant.. mv Government absolutely yfiects with energy, such an imputation which, in essence, would mean only an insult.”
