BODY BRICKED UP
MISSING MAX FOUND IN DOCTOR’S ROOM MARSEIL LES SENSATION. (AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSN.) ' (Received June 15. 8.45 p.m.) PARIS, June 15. Detectives at Marseilles discovered the body of Jacques Rumebe. bank cashier, who disappeared in March, bricked up in the wall of the consulting room of Bougrat, a wellknown Marseilles doctor who was a close friend of Rumebe.
The doctor was present and handcuffed when the workmen broke down the wall and found the body. A crowd outside attempted to lynch the doctor who was severely handled before the police rescued him.
Dr. Bougrat- is 32 years of age, married, hut deserted his wife and has been living beyond his means. This was the first cause of suspicion. The police then noticed one side wall of the consulting room had been repapered and when a search was made the body was revealed. Dr. Baugrnt now- says that Rumebe committed suicide _ by taking poison and he (Bougrat) hid his body, fearing he would lie accused of the murder, but the police believe Dr. Bougrat is likely to be connected with other crimes.
Dr. Bougrat teas wounded seven times in the war and was twice decorated.
