RICHARD HAINES IN ‘ THE COVER NOR’S LADY”, BERT LYTELL IN “THE FACE BETWEEN.” With riu> such powerful and magnificently produced dramatic plays_ as “Tho Governor’s ’Lady” and “The Face Between” which are supported by one of the best collection of entertaining pictures of the year, the Palace Theatre should be packed tonight and to-morrow night. “The Governor’s Lady” was directed by the same man who made “Over the Kill”, and “If Winter Comes.” It is a marvellously produced picture with the greatest heart appealing story of the year. He loved and manned a pretty .girl, who cared for hint and guided* him, to become one of the richest moil in the State. Chance throw him into acquaintance with a political boss, who roused the man s ambition. Then ho learned how easy it was to forget the struggles that a wife boars without a word to see her man rise in the world., then turning aside from the one who fought by him—lie compares some of the social butterflies with his wife, who has been slow - to adapt herself to the altered conditions. ’1 lie man is nominated for the post of governoi, and h<> seeks for a young woman who could look the part of the wife of a governor. and play the hostess to the wealthy crowd who sought entertainment. Then follows a series of dramatic surprises that are tuned to a beating heart, and build up to a mighty climax. “The Face Between” is another big dramatic play in which Bert Lytell does some of the finest work of his career, it is the story oi a son’s sacrifice for Ins father who lias become involved in an affair which threatens his reputation. The son accepts the responsibility for the father’s wrong doing with powerful dramatic results. The supporting programme is a very fine one. A matinee will be held to-day at 2.
