Two pictures at the art exhibition loaned from the French Academy of Art. viz.. Rodin's “Kiss Spring” and Raphael Collins’ “Sleep” were covered up. A representative of the French Ambasador, on inquiry, was informed by the police that kissing is an unclean habit, the introduction and encouragement of which in Japan is not desirable.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
