(Received June 3 11.15 p.m.) LONDON, June- 3. The House of Commons read a second time, by 245 to 214 votes the Government’s Agricultural Wages Bill, providing for the appointment of county agricultural’ wages committees empowered to fix wages and hours, each side being equally represented with an independent chairman and, failing a decision, a central board to decide.-

The Minister (Mr. Buxton), moving the Bill, described the poverty-strick-en conditions of the agricultural workers and their families and declared that the .present standard of wages was lower than before the war.— Reuter.
