NEW FOUNDLAND POLITICS
(Received May 11, 5.5 P- 11 }-) ST JOHNS (New Foundland) May iu Albert Hickman, leader of the Liberals, has formed a Ministry to succeed the Warren Cabinet, who have resigned. A majority of the Executive Council, who served uith Mr Squires, are identified with Mr Hickman. The mam features of the Liberal programme appears to bo to clean up the conditions disclosed by tho Walker inquiry. The new Ministry was installed at noon to-day, ana immediately met and fixed Juno as the date of the general election of n-embm s of the Assembly. A STORM CENTRE REMOVED. WASHINGTON, May 9. William J. Burns, whose activit-es have Wen a storm centre in sevei u Senate investigations, has resigned his position as Chief of the Justice Department’s Bureau of Investigation He was selected for the post three years ago by Attorney-General Daiioliertv. Tho world famous detective 1 has since borne much of the ciiticism levelled at the Administration of Mr Daugherty. Illness is slated to be the reason for the resignation.
