SIMPSON SENT TO GAOL FOR SIX MONTHS.

At the Supreme Court Henry Simpson, Arthur Melvin Taylor, Otto Kreogher and Richard Gavigan appeared for sentence, having pleaded guilty yesterday to charges of conspiracy "to defraud the Cheltenham Dairy Company by furnishing false cream 'tests.
In sentencing Simpson to six months’ gaol, His Honour said that prisoner had been convicted of charges of fraud. His offence was a most serious one. He did not believe Simpson’s statement that the offences dated from November, but took the view that they had been going on for a longer period. The sentence would not ha heavy, as it was the prisoner’s first lapse. Addressing the other accused. His Honour-said that the ends of Justice would he served by fines.
ICrecgher and Taylor were each fined £IOO, payable on August Ist, in default eight months’ imprisonment. Gavigan was fined £SO, ip default four months’ imprisonment.—P.A.
