’LABOR IN AMERICA

A POLITICAL BULLETIN

’TOO MUCH “THOU SHALT NOi” IN THE LAWS.

DEMAND FOR LIGHT BEER

United Press Association- -Copyright. (Received May 7, 9 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 6. Tho American Federation of Labor * has issued a political bulletin outlining its demands before giving support to any party at the coming elections.

The bulletin declares, initially, that there must he a revival of the spirit of honesty, integrity and high mindedness in public office. The astounding revelations during the past three months are proof of the need of a great regeneration of American idealism. Labor, moreover, asks for the repeal of tlie anti-trust jaws as applying to labor organisations, the continuation of a sharply graduated income and inheritance tax, favoring reductions mainly beneficial to small inc< mos, and favors the United States’ entrance into th-r* League of Nations and the World Court.

It asks for a permanent in.migration pol'ey enforcing strict exclusion for many years to come and wants the power of the Supreme Court curtailed and tlii; .j i.dieiary’s power to issue injunctions in connection with Labor disputes removed.

Jt declares that the Volstead Law is an improper intci pretation of the Eighteenth Amendment and wants a modification to permit 2.75 point beer.

It concludes: "We need less ‘thou shalt not’ in our laws.”—A. and N.Z.C.A.
