HOME MARKETS. The N'ew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited have received .the following cablegram from their London house under date May 2: New Zealand frozen meat: Lamb, 10Jd per lb (average). Mutton: Quotations unchanged (last quotations 25/4/24: Wether and maiden ewe, light 63d per lb, heavy Ggd per lb; ewe, light spd per lb, heavy 4s lb). Market quiet. New Zealand dairy produce: Butter, choicest salted 170 s to 172 s per cwt—market slow. Cheese : 84s to SSs per cwt. —quiet. HOME WOOL MARKET.
Messrs Williams and Kettle are in receipt of the following cable _ from their London agents re the opening ol the May series of wool sales: “Scoureds, slipes and fine greasy unchanged; other greasies a litt.e easier.” The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd. are in receipt of the following cablegram from their London cilice under date May 6: “There was a good attendance at the opening sales to-day. C'qin,petition by Home buyers was active. Sales opened flunk for merino, but crossbreds irregular. The opening catalogues were la.irlv lepresentative. The Bank of New" Zealand advises receipt of the following cable from London: “Wool sales opened, strong competition ; large attendance buyers. Good demand all kinds wool. compared close last series prices practically all descriptions unchanged.”
LONDON WOOL SALES. V NATTRACTIVE SELECTION AND HIGH RESERVES.
LONDON, May 6. The wool sales have opened. Goire petition is firm at late rates. At the wool sales there was a very n iscellanoous unatti active selection, including numerous speculators’ lots, whereon high reserves were, platen. Many of these were withdrawn as the sales proceeded. Consequently buyers became hesitant. The general tone was not equal to that at Liverpool but the prices for both merinos and crossbreds were generally fairly we.l maintained at the last London closing rates. For slipes and scoureds there was a strong market at full late London rates. New Zealand clips included Lor.gbnrn, 37d, CFM 35$ d, WFM lambs 363 d.—A. and N.Z.C'.A.
