Mr Laurence J3irks, Chief Electrical Engineer, who recently left New Zeitland to attend the World Power Conference, only got as far as Australia, where ho had to seek meedical ad. vice and the report being unfavo-.f able he decided to return to New - Zealand. Should he bo unable to continue his voyage, New Zealand will most probably .be represented at the conference by Mr Evan Parry, of the English Electrical Company, who was formerly in the employ of the New Zealand Government, and James Allen, High Commissioner in London .—Special.

The members of the Celtic Football Club entertained Tom Heenev on the eve of his departure for England. Mr. M. J. Kyne, president of ihc club member with a well filled wallet, club member fith a well filled wallet, referred to his ability as a footballer anu his prowess as a boxer, and expressed the hope that he would return to the Dominion with many honors. He handed to the guest a letter of introduction signed by the president and secretary of the Cheic Club, Gisborne, for presentation to a number of Celtic Clubs in the Old Country. Mr E. Warren and Mr J. Jones also spoke. Tom Heenev suitably responded. Tom Heenev, accompanied, his trainer, Fred Demin ey leave by the Arahura to-morrow evening.
