GREAT AUSTRALIANS.
ffI SOME ,J MAGAZINE LISTS. Trying to discover the seven living Australians who have done most for Australia the “Home” quarterly (Sydney) asked 'several well-known men for their lists. In its May issue iti prints them. The most interesting note, perhaps (savs the Guardian), is that Mr Ernest' Watt, member of the Union Club and Maecenas of Sydney society, puts Mr Theodore, rhe Labor Premier, in liis list, which is: W. M. Hughes. W. A l . Holman. Norman Lindsay. Alexander ManOormick. John Monash. Nellid Melba. E. G. Theodore. The March number of this magazine is, as usual, the best printed periodical in Australia, Among the pictures are delightful interiors or Dame Nellie Melba’s Victorian home Coombs Cottage. Dame Nellie says in her specially-written article: “Fine are the houses of New Yo4k, a.nd very dear to me the streets of London—hut how can they compare with ‘Coomb©’ P And 1 _*■ would sacrifice evr/ry Pom an hyacinth that oxer grew for one spray of ye.low wattle.”
