LABOR UNREST.
CLOTHING TRADE DISPUTE. WELLINGTON, April 11. A complete settlement was effected before the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr Newton, in the Dominion clothing trade dispute, mainly along the lines of the present award. The clauses relating to the hours„„a.nd classification of workers are to remain as at present. The term of tailoresses’ apprenticeship is altered to three years’ apprenticeship and one year’s improvership. No deduction is to be made from a. female apprentice’s wages except for time lost through sickncfS or default. A journeywoman’s minimum wage is fixed at £2 4s; second class, chart cutters, £4 7s 6d; stock cutters, £4 4s; male machinists, £4 4s; pressers and oilers, £4 4s, or Is lid per hour. The term of the agreement is for twelve months.—P.A.
