ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS.

SAD HAPPENING. TWIN CHILD SUFFOCATED. A sad happening was reported to the Wellington police'from Lyall Bay on Friday, a child, eight months old, being suffocated in bed. The parents, Mr and Mijs F. O. Reid, live in Rua Street, and the child was a twin daughter, which had been put to sleep by its mother during thei morning. When she later went to feed the twins, who were in bed together, she found that one of them had been suffocated. The infant had slipped from the pillow, and had suffocated beneath the blankets. Life was- pronounced extinct by Dr Rawson, of Kilbirnie. The other child was in its normal condition. The victim was a perfectly healthy child.

MISHAP TO MOTOR PARTY

NELSON. April 11. j A serious motor accident occurred in Trafalgar Street south last Awning. A car driven by Norman Cameron, who was conveying a number of young ladies home after a sewing lesson, got out of control coming down College Hill, and crashed into an electric light pole. Gwen Penny, daughter of Mr W. J. Penny, sustained a broken jaw, , broken arm, and other serious injuries to the head and body. The other occupants were not seriously injured.—P.Ai.
