YOUNG AIAN STABBED. CHIHSTCEIURCH, July 30. AY hat appears to be a dispute between two young men on Saturday night over the result of the AlaristAferivale football match ended ill one of the combatants being stabbed ivith a pocket knife in the neck and chest, necessitating ins admission to tho Christchurch, Hospital. Only meagre details of the affair have been gathered by the police owing to the reticence of the injured man. The fight occurred in the right-of-way known as Hereford Place at about 11.20 p.m. A.s far as is known several young men were present and an argument was started concerning the big football match. The argument developed into a fight and a constable, whose attention was attracted by the excitement, arrived in time to meet John Flynn, single, 22 years of aye, laborer, staggering out of the right-of-way with blood oozing from two knife wounds in his neck and chest. Flynn was then in a serious condition through loss of blood, but he did not want the constable to take any action in the matter. His condition, however, was such as to requiie immediate attention, and the constable had him removed to Jtospita! without delay. Yesterday the police were unable to interview Flynn about tlie mailer, but to-day his condition showed considerable improvement.—l’.A.
