BOX FLANS TO-DAY. When Aliss Amy Castles sang “The Last Rose of Summer” at a brilliant concert in America, with, a violin obligato by the celebrated Alisehn Elman, ex-President Roosevelt declared that' she sang tlie beautiful simple melody with more feeling and beauty of tone than any other artiste he bad ever beard. It is in the rendition of sue*! simple theme; that the iro-t f‘.uncus operatic singers often fail, but Aliss Castles has consummate art nt her disposal. She appeals to all hearts with, them, just as she captivates her hearers with the great operatic arias with which she has won fame in most of the European capitals as well as the great cities of America. It was a Brussels critic who declared. “Aliss Castles held us under the charm of her exquisite voice, a voice of infinite purity and of marvellous suppleness and flexibility,” and many other Continental cities have endorsed the popular regard which established her in A as prima donna at the Imperial Opera. Her sister, Aliss Eileen Castles, iassociated with Aliss Airy Castles on this tour prior to returning to America. where she also is 'established as a firm favorite as prima donna in the lighter forms of grand opera.
