Mr. Dudley Jeune, eldest eon of Mr. j. F. .Jeiyie, of Gisborne, lias been appointed. pi*o.sident of tiie Canterbury College Students' Association, in place of Mr. H. P- Kidson, resigned. Mr. Jeune is the first übder-graduate to be elected to the position. Air. 11. M. Choveaux, who sustained a compound fracture of the arm near the shoulder blade a day or two ago, as a result of a fall in the Gisborne Sheepfarrners’ store, and who was removed to the hospital, is making favorable progress towards recovery. The death occurred at Dunedin on Saturday of Mr. William Thomas Tolboys, aged 77 years, formerly wellknown in the drapery business, and a prominent member of the Hospital Board and Anglican Church—P.A. At the Institution of Civil Engineers’ April examinations, states a London cable, preliminary passes were obtained by Charles Aleeock, William Lucy, and Rew Murray, Harold O’Connor, Herbert Stevens, and Oliver poidge, New Zealanders. —A. and N.Z.C.A. A New York cable states that Seattle reports that President Harding suffered a slight attack of ptomaine poisoning confining him to bed. upon the advice of his physician who believed the etrenuousness of bis recent tour, coupled with illness, might prove serious. The indisposition itself, however, is considered slight. The entire party including Mr. Weeks, Secretary of War, appear to he indisposed, the result of eating some tinned food.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
