• HIDES MARKET. * MELBOURNE, July 27. The hides market is again irregular, stouts and hides with substance being unchanged, but other sorts are hard to sell at irregular values. — U.P.A. CHRISTCHURCH SHARE MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, July 27. Reported sales: 4-1 per emit, btfncls, 1938, 4198 15s (two parcels); Mannings Brewery Co., £6 7s 6d (two 'parcels). On ’Change: Burns, Philp and Co.. 32s 9d. PRODUCE MARKET. There is little activity to report in the produce market at the present time. Things have been very quiet for some time past, and there seems little prospects of any noticeable movements in the near future. Prices show few alterations from those ruling a month, ago. Good supplies of potatoes .are to hand ex Kini, and values show -no firming tendency. Tasmanian oats and chaff, cx Kaitangata, are coming on to the market. - j Prices-yesterday quoted are as follows : l Potatoes: £l2 to £l3 per ton; 25s j 6d per bag. ; Oats: Duns, 5s 6d to os 9d per bushel; Gartens, to os 3d. Onions: (Victorian), 51b Is. Bran: ISOTb sack, 10s 6d. Chaff: £8 per ton (good lines). Bollard: 2001 b sack, 2ls Gd. Maize: to 6/- per bushel.

FRUIT REPORT. The fruit market is fairly well supplied just now. Granges, mandarins and apples are in good supply, and a steady demand is ensuring satisfactory prices for retailors. Prices remain at about the same figure as at last report, as follows: — Apples: Eating, 4d to 6d per lb; cooking, 51b Is. Oranges: Local, 2s to 2s fid per dozen; imported, to 6s. Mandarins: 3s per dozen. Passion fruit: 2s per dozen. Bananas: 6d to 9d per lb. Lemons: Is 6d per dozen.
