GAOL for failure to keep BOOKS.
WELLINGTON, July 27. •Y Russian Pole named John Joseph, a bankrupt, formerly a drap- : cm- at Eastbourne, was charged at the Magistrate’s flourt to-day with failure to keep books. Joseph is now employed at Auckland and is gradual lv getting on.his feet, but as tlie law did not permit of a fine he was sentenced to three months’ hard labor.
