FATAL FALL
\ ROADMAN’S DEATH AT TE \ ARAROA. TE ARAROA, July 25. Iho death took place here on Sunday under rather unusual circumstances of Frederick James Plier, fiftyfive years of age, roadman, in the employ of the Mntakaoa Countv Council. J ‘ On Saturday, Plier was in the Te Araroa hotel, and coming out stopped at the door of the vegetable room, speaking to sense of the girls there, lie was asked to leave, but would not do so. One of the girls then put out her hand and gave Plier a slight push. He overbalanced and fell on the concrete, striking his head. The girls rushed out and Plier, who was unconscious, was removed to the cottage hospital, where ho died on the following day without having recovered consciousness. An inquest was bold before Mr J. X. Davies-Colley, J.P., acting eoron- ; or, with ?dr F. S. Jackson foreman j of the jury. ' ! Evidence "or- the above lines was given. . ! ; Dr. Wi Repa stilted he had made a post mortem examination. As a result, he considered that death was due to pressure on the brain caused by hemorrhage from the middle meningeal arteries, such injury being caused by a fall on a concrete floor. , A. verdict was returned in accord'unee with the medical evidence, with the addition that no blame was 'at- , tachablo to the girl concerned. Flier had been in the employ of the Council for about 18 months or two years, and was very popular. He was a married man and leaves a grownup family iii the Waikato.-—Special. :
