NEW OLD PEOPLE’S HOME.
REPORT BEFORE HOSPITAL BOARD. In connection with the proposal to establish a new Old People’s Koine a committee meeting attended by the following members of the Cook Hospital Board was held to consider the matter: Messrs. \\ r . G. Shcrratt (chairman), W. J. McCliskie, D. W. Coleman, H. Kenway, and M. T. Trafford. . „ The following report was presented to yesterday’s meeting of the Board: The committee recommended that the Board instruct the architects to prepare plans for a less elaborate building than that proposed by the original plans and that -the propi sect new building he made more compact, and be built to accommodate 1 0 inmates male and female. A certain price to be stated for the cost of the building, when full details of the prices are obtained for sale of Board’s sections, etc:. The money obtained for sale of Board’s sections to he utilised, for the purpose of the new Old People’s Home, also that from sale of present Old People’s Home if necessary. The committee also recommend that the Board consider what is best to he done regarding the money at present on fixed deposit together with accrued interest, which matures on J.Bth proximo, in view of the fact that it would he some months before funds would be required for the building of the new bo nit).. The chairman said that it might be advisable to keep the money 111 hand until they saw how their finances panned oiit. The report was adopted.
