PALACE THEATRE.
HARRY CAREY IN “MAN TO MAN ” MAY MeAVOY IN “THE TOP OF NEW YORK.” Commencing at the matinee to-day a colossal programme will he screened at the Palace Theatre. Jackson Gregory’s celebrated novel “Man to Man,” with popular Harry Carey and Lillian Rich in the leading roles, and “The Top of New York” with beautiful May McAvoy as the star, arc the two great attractions. Both are famous film successes. A magnificent supporting programme will be added which includes Lee Moran in his funniest Century comedy “Two of a Kind”, the International News, and a World Travel scenic. “Man to, Man” is a gorgeous super-production telling a story that keeps every nerve a-tingle. It recounts the struggle of a young man who fights his way from the degradation of a South sea derelict back to respectability in his home country—the cattle lands of the west, and the winning of the prettiest girl in Arizona. Every scene in tlie picture is crammed with new thrills, and one of the greatest is a stampede of over five thousand cattle with the hero and heroine hemmed in to wliat seems certain death. Those playgoers who saw “Conflict” thought that was the greatest thing in thrills that had ever been staged, but in “Man to Man” the cattle stampede has it beaten twenty ways, and there are many other big thrillling situations. Not to see “Man to Man” is to miss a never to lie forgotten picture. Harry Carey and Lillian Rich are marvellous in the leading roles. “The Top of New York” is another superb production, with May McAvoy, the sensation of picturedom to-day in a role which grips the heart and squeezes it, _ The picturo asks the great question, “What chance has a beautiful lonely girl for happiness in New York. What chance has she for the winning of true love? And the story answers it vividly and realistically. “The Top of New York” will appeal to every woman who has loved or been loved. _ The matinee starts at 2. The plan is at Muir’s.
