SPECIAL SERVICES IN AMERICA
SERVICE ON SPOT WHERE LINER SANK.
NEW YORK, April 16. Pursuant to plan, the coastguard cutter Modoc and all churches, as well as seagoing ships, held special services., while all radios remained silent for five minutes, in commemoration of the eleventh anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, when 1517 live- were lost, through the liner crashing into an iceberg. To-day’s tribute was paid when the Alcdoc took up a position over the spot where the Titanic sank and commemorated the tragedy with full military honors for the victims, while the churches’ prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the dead.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
