KAIKOURA FIRE.
EIGHTEEN HUNDRED BALES OF WOOL DAMAGED.
AUCKLAND, April 17. The Kaikoura sailed for Opua today after discharging the cargo in number four hold damaged by fire. Eighteen hundred bales of wool more or less, were damaged, of which 220 of loose charred wool were auctioned, the remainder being re-conditioned. Over 3000 bales were not damaged. One hundred and ninety case of tallow were undamaged. Of two hundred and forty cases of sugar of milk only a few are damaged.—P.A.
