TURKISH WOAIEN TO BE FREE-., PARIS’S GOOD WORK. LONDON, Feb. 21. "Harems are a thing* of tile past among the Turks, who cannot afford them now,” says Aliss Grace Ellison, the English ' authoress and traveller, who has lived among Turkish woman and has an intimate knowledge of their social status. She has returned from Angora, which she was the first English woman to visit since it became the Turkish capital. "It was very wellj to have four wivea when they were workers,” she says, "but now they expect to be allowed to follow Paris fashions.’’ Mustapha Kemal told Miss Ellison that Turkish women 1 would be freed from all restrictions within a year, and l that the yashmak (face veil) would ’ cease to be worn.
