LITHUANLA DEFIES ALLIED AMBASSADORS.
LEAGUE THREATENS TO INTERFERE.
PARIS, Feb. 4. The Lithuanians’ talk of recourse to arms has evoked stern warnings of possible intervention by the League of Nations. Lord Balfour and M. Viviani at a public sitting of the Council of the League, which approved of the provisional demarcation of the line neutral zones between Poland and Lithuania, recommended by the League’s investigator, ordered Poland and Lithuania to disarm and dissolve bands cf irregulars infesting the district. The Polish delegate accepted, but the Lithuanian delegate, declaring that Lithuania insisted upon the return of the Suwalki line, which was accepted by both countries before the Zeligowski coup de etat. Lithuania would resist to the utmost the occupation of territory now allotted Poland. Reports have been received here that the Lithuanian Government has refused to comply with the Ambassadors’ Conference ultimatum.—Reuter.
