RUMORED RESIGNATION OF DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE.

(Received Feb. 5, 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 4. It is rumored the Duke of Devonshire has resigned from the chairmanship of the British Empire Exhibition, and that Sir Robert Horne lias not accepted an invitation to succeed, him. It is understood the Duke of Devonshire’s resignation is not connected with Sir W. Joynson Hicks’ report, which will be issued to-morrow, but ’is due to the difficulty of retaining the post since his appointment as Colonial Secretary.—A. and N.Z.CIA.
