COUNTRY GIRL FIRST BURIED IN GULLY.
THE REMOVAL OF THE BODY,
MELBOURNE, Feb. 5. The police made a discover} - of Bertha Coughlau’s burial place in n gully, as the result of a statement supplied by Frank Bonfiglio, former husband of Hannah Mitchell, alias Bonfiglio, in December last when he was in hospital suffering from a gunshot wound, allegedly inflicted by Hannah Mitchell during a quarrel. Tlie police also secured evidence that the body was taken to the gully by Bonfiglio and the three accused women. They obtained a statement from Mrs. Milward, admitting that they assisted in removing the body.— U.P.A.
("While dragging the Yarra river the police discovered the decapitated body of a young girl in a bag. The head was found in a second bag. Decomposition of the body indicated that the girl had beee dead some months. Later the police arrested three women—Hannah Mitchell, Margaret Mitchell, and Margaret Milward. The first-named is charged with murdering in November a girl named Bertha Coughlan, and the other two with' being accessories after the fact. All were remanded.]
