At the annual meeting of the Master Printers’ Association Air. N. Mcßobie (Auckland) was elected president. P.A.

Mr. R. A. Alalone, of the Auckland office, arrived by the boat yesterday, to take op kis duties in the Gisborne Stamp Duties office, where he fills the vacancy caused by the transfer tc pier of Air. Martin Kennedy.

Air. T. Russell Cameron, a Scottish, evangelist, arrived by the Arahura from Auckland yesterday, and "ill conduct a series of undenominational evangelistic campaigns. Mr. Sidney \V - Wood accompanies Air. Cameron.

The engagement is announced of Aliss Mol lie Nathan, third daughter of Mr arid Mrs Alfred Nathan, of “Vt'ick•i'ord,” Princes Street, Auckland, to Air Douglas Levy, second son of Mr and Airs Sep. Levy, of “Hillside,” Wcxillalira, Sydney.

An invitation to become a candidate for Parliament at the next general election which was thrice i-epeated, has recently been definitely declined by Mrs- Lloyd George, who, while keenly interested in political affairs, feels (one of hex* friends states) that she can assist her husband as much outside Parliament as she would, be able to do were she a member of the House of Commons.

The inspector of civil aviation for the New Zealand -Air Board, Cara. L. AI. Isitt, arrived from -Auckland by the Arahura yesterday. Cap.it. Isitt x-: engaged by the Beard to make inspections of the machines of the various aviation comxnmies and to report upon txieir condition. He is visiting Gisborne for the pmrxxrse of inspecting the two Canterbury Aviation Company’s machines which, are at present here. This "-ill be done to-day, and Card. Isitt will leave to-night for the South by tne Arahura.

An engagement that will be cf interest to many New Zealanders is that of Aliss Tien Hogue to Lieut. A\ yatt, R.N., says, a London paxter. Aliss Hogue is a daughter of the late Almister for Education in New South Wales, arm sister of the late Alajor Oliver Hogue, known to many people as' “Hrcoxier Bluegum,” author ot “Love Letters of an Anzac.” Lieut. Wyatt is at present temporary captain of the Alallet. Aliss Hogue has made three or four trips to New Zealand as a member 1 -of the J. C. Williamson, comXianies.

Writing on January 3, The Post’s Loudon corresondent says: “On' December 22 the marriage took place, at Christ Church, Woburu-square, of Miss Kathleen, eider daughter of Air and Airs W. J. Cress well, ‘ Highfield,’ Timani, and Dr. E. A. Widdowson, second son cf Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.AL, of Dunedin. Dr. Widdowson has been house surgeon at the Miller Hospital. Greenwich, and the Y'ic-toria Hospital for Children, Chelsea, during the last two years, and he will shortly enter into a partnership and settle permanently in England.”

A high tribute to the services of Aliss Ale-Lagan, who is retiring from the position of matron of the Palmerston North Hospital, to the staff of which she has been attached for 23 years, was paid by Dr. Putnam, senior member of the hospital’s (honorary medic-al staff, in a letter read to the Board. “As senior member of the honorary staff.” he wrote, “I am in a position to express my unbounded admiration of the manner in which she has filled what is always a most difficult position. Her main object has been a just administration and careful management cf the hospital, whose reputation and good name she has always considered a sacred trust. The high position of efficiency for many years occupied by tire hospital in this country has been in no small degree the result of her whole-hearted loyalty to the institution and her devotion to duty." A southern wedding of interest, which took place in the private chapel at "Stcnyiuirst,” the residence of Sir George Clifford, was that of Aliss Beatrice Alary Clifford, eldest daughter of Sir George and Lady Clifford, and Air George Macdonald, second son of Air and Alts i.’mfild AI. Macdonald, of “llamblexlen." Christchurch. The Rev. Father J. <\ Murphy, of Ha warden, officiated. The altar was decorated with pink and white carnations and roses, and a wedding bell of pink and white sweet peas was suspended over the bride and bridegroom. Aliss Clifford, who was given away by her father, wore a charming gown of white cliantilly lace over white satin, made on simple lines, and finished with a swathed belt and sash ends of lemon satin. The lace veil was arranged over a circle of orange blossoms, a gift ot" the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. Alount Alagdala. by whom it had been made, for the bride’s sister. Airs Bruce Douglas. The bridal bouquet vats of pale yellow roses, hothouse flowers. and maidenhair fern. Miss June Clifford, as bridesmaid, wore a shellpink crepe de chine'' with ostrich feather trimming, and a silver lace underskirt. Her hat was of raven’s wing blue cire. wreathed with an uncurled pink plume, the bouquet being of pale pink roses. Air lan Macdonald was the best man. The bride’s travelling costume was a navy blue serge coatfrock, with black cire braid, and t a black panne velvet hat with a drooping ostrich plume. Her travelling wrap was of red duvetyn. embroidered in wool of a lighter shade than the coat, and finished with a skunk collar.
