AIAN CUTS HIS THROAT

INVERCARGILL, Feb ,22. A man named Thomas McVicker, 58, threshing mill employee, committed suicide at Lumsden early this morning by cutting his throat. He had complained of ill health He had no relatives in New Zealand.

INQUESTS AT PALMERSTON NORTH.

PALMERSTON N., Feb. 22. Two inquests were held to-day by Mr Stout, S.M. In tiie case of Arthur Samuel Andrew, .the victim of tlie Bunnythorpe railway fatality on Monday morning, the evidence went to show that deceased apparently failed to observe the train till approaching the crossing, when the horse took fright and bolted on to the line. Two warning signals haa been sounded by the engine-driver, who was exonerated by the Coroner in returning a verdict of accidental death. The second case was that of Carl Dwyer, a cook, employed at the Whakaronga . Dairy Co., who committed suicide by shooting himself while in a fit of despondency over projected divorce proceedings. Ho had been living apart from his wife a Napier resident, who in evidence said that her late husband was weak minded. A formal verdict was returned.
