Something more than the average musical comedy is promised m “The Lilac Domino” which will he ‘ presented at the Opera House on Saturday night for the opening production of the short season of successful J. C. Williamson comic operas and m.usical comedies which will be presented by Air D. B. O’Connor, under his personal supervision. “The Lilac Domino” is - the most successful J. C. Williamson comic opera of recent years, and the music is described as having charm and originality, and at times rises to almost operatic heights. There :s comedy also in plenty and to judge by the reception accorded the piece in Australia and Auckland, a fine house should greet the Gisborne production. Th©. piece had a run of three years in London, six months in Sydney, and three months _in Melbourne. “What is Done Aou Never Can Undo”’ True Love will find a Way,” and “For Your Love I am Waiting’” are three of the most popular numbers. Ida Leggatt will appear as Georgine, Will Everard as Andre, and D. B. O’Connor as Prosper, supported by a powerful casto which includes a specially trained ballet and chorus, a lull orchestra, special scenic effects, and a magnificent wardrobe. On Monday night “Going Up” the great J. C. Williamson aviation comic opera-, will bo offered, on Tuesday “Kafcinka” on Wednesday “The Girl for the Boy,” and on Thursday “Oh Boy!” The operas will ho staged under the personal supervision of Mr D. B. O’Connor, by arrangement with 3. C. Williamson, Ltd. Box plans are at Miller’s, where seats may he reserved without extra charge.
