William McNeur, of Whakatane, Bay of Plenty. All thte five sons of the McNeur. family are Presbyterian ministers, the eldest being the Rev. George McNeur, pioneer missionary of the N.Z. Presbyterian Church in the Canton Villages Mission. Mr George P. Mountain, one of the oldest settlers of the Bay of Islands, has died at the age of 84. He was born in Australia, and came to . New Zealand 56 years ago, settling in- Purerna as storekeeper' and gum-buyer,. where he started a fish cannery, still in successful operation.’ He married Miss H. ■ Lethbridge, daughter of the first white woman horn in New Zealand.
