Senate shortly; urging President Harding to stop work on warships during the Disarmament Conference. Messrs. Borah and Pomereue will press the view that suspension of naval construction during the period of the conference would be a simple act of good faith Meanwhile the House Appropriation Committee has virtually decided not to discuss next year’s army and navy appropriations until alter the conference, firstly, because cf the desire to avoid the possibility of the embarrassment of the administration by a Congressional debate on armament expenditure during the parleys, and secondly, because future expenditure will be subject to a change according to the success or failure of the conference.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
