JOURNALIST SUICIDES,
CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 15. George T. Hendry, chief siib- I editor of the Sun, was found hanging ■ in a lavatory at his residence at j Beckenham at 5.30. He reft tlie office at 4 p.m. in normal health. He was ; a native of Mcsgiel and was educated at the Otago Boys’ High School and started journalism tun Dunedin. Afterwards lie was on The New Zealand Times and the Auckland Herald and joined the Sun as reporter at its inception „in 1913. —P.A. KILLED BY MOTOR CAR,. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 15. James Nathan Abraham, commission agent, Burwood, was knocked down by a motor car in the city and died in hospital.—P.A. DISINFECTANT FOR STOUT. WESTPORT, Sept. 15 At the inquest to-day touching the death of Edward Bradley, who was found on Wednesday in a dying state near his hut and snortly afterwards collapsed, it was shown that deceased went to %he hospital to sweep chimneys and that a bottle or stout was left out for his -supper, also that a bottle of carbolic dismtectant was left in the kitchen where it had been used' for disinfecting purposes and deceased had by mistake, dir finishing his job in the morning, taken the disinfectant away with him and swallowed some of. it. Apparentlv he was trying to get back to the hospital when, lie collapsed on the roadside. A verdict of accidental death throughing taking poison by mistake was returned. —XVA.
