STARVING HORDES ON THE MARCH.
‘BOLSHIE” ARMY SENT TO STOP THEM.
TROTSKY REPORTED ARRESTED
(United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received July 29, 1 a.m./ LONDON, July 28. The Morning Post correspondent reports that hordes of starving Russia™ peasants are marching on Moscow, destroying everything en route. They entirely devastated the town of Tamboff, three hundred miles south-east of Moscow. An overwhelming Red army has been sent to stop them. The peasants have killed and eaten the horses of the Bolshevik cavalry, fire brigades, and municipal services. Red troops refused to shoot after a hunger demonstration strike, m which 20,618 women were shot iu Petrograd. ' The Daily Express’ Berlin correspondent states that the Soviet has proclaimed a'state of siege in Petrugrad and Moscow. A Russian, paper published in Berlin reports that Irotsky lias been arrested. WASHINGTON, July 27. Mr. Hughes has sent a Note to the Soviet Government, demanding the release of Americans imprisoned in Russia.—A. and N.Z. C.A.
