NIGHT WEDDING

RODERICK—STEVENS

A wedding commanding a greater degree of interest than usual, by virtue of the fact that it was nelu in the evening, was solemnised last night in Holy Trinity Church the officiating minister being Canon Paeke. The contracting parties were Miss E. C. Stevens and Mr. Emanuel Roderick, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Roderick, of Gisborne. There was a very largo attendance at the church, the “Wedding March” being played by Mr. Sidebottom. The bridesmaids were Miss D. Beddow (white crepe do chine and georgette), Miss O. Harnfather (white satin charmeuse and georgette), and Misses Sylvia Newton and Kathleen Smith. The bride, who looked charming in white satin channelise, trimmed with pearls and silver trimming, was given away by Mr. W. Simmonds, of Gisborne. After the ceremony the bridegroom’s mother received the guests at the Lo Grand Lounge, where they partook of a wedding breakfast. A lengthy toast list was honored, and an adjournment to the dancing hall followed. where several instrumental and vocal items were rendered, and dancing was indulged in. Dance music was supplied by Miss J. Ho wart h and Vita Bros.’ orchestm, Mr. McLoughlin capably executing the duties of M.C. ’['lie bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many valuable presents, and the bridesmaids were presented with gold cameo rings. Mr. and Mrs. Roderick will reside at Ormond Road.
