POSITION AS TO MEAT.

The Department of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram dated 15th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand:—Meat Market remains steady and shows little change in price or condition. New Zealand lamb continues in good demand at Is to Is Id per lb for old season’s and Is Id to Is 2d per lb new season’s. Mutton: Fair trade for lightweight under 64 ibs at 8-jd to 9d; 64 lbs to 72 lbs 7-Jd to over 72 lbs, slow trade at 6d to 6sd per lb. Ewes, lightweight, old to 6d; heavyweight, 4!d to 5d per lb. Beef: Prime ox, hinds 6d to 6*d, fores 4d to 4id per lb. Trade slow on account of weather. Argentine chilled, hinds lid. fores-od.
