I MAT AW HER O SALE, j Messrs Williams and Kettle Ltd., report having held their weekly stock j sale on Wednesday last, at the Mata- ! whero Yards in conjunction with the ■ Poverty Bay. Stockbrokers' Association. There was a large attendance of buyers and a good yarding of sheep, but only a small entry of cattle at the above . sale. Only a few good pens of breeding ewes came forward, and these made good prices, but for inferior lots the j market, was easier. There was only a ; small entry of lambs,, and good rape i lambs were eagerly sought after, and i prices showed a big improvement on previous sales. Fat sheen were offered in small numbers aDcl most lots changed hands in buyers’ favour; The small entry of fat cattle sold well' and' practically the whole of the entry changed hands at full market rates. Store cattle yarded were mostly of inferior quality and very little business was done, most lots failing to change, owners. Taking the sale throughout, | prices were good, especially for good breeding ewes, and the firm strongly advise clients to forward their surplus j ewes to them for sale as soon as possii ble, for the season is fast advancing. I The following prices were obtained during the day. Fat ewes 16s 3d to 20s; fat lambs (light) 18s to 21s; Breedin ewes, 4 and 5-yr. olds 16s to 19s; Syr old ewes 16s 6d to 18s; 2-ths (good) 17s to 19s 6d: poor condition and failing mouth ewes 5s to Ss 6d; good rape lambs 14s to 15s 10d; store lambs 10s 9d to 12s 6d. Fat cows £lO to £ll ss. Store cows £3 10s to £6.

The Now Zealand Loam and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having hold their weekly live stock sale at the Matawhero yards on Wednesday, when a good yarding of sheep and a fair number ot cattle were offered to a good attendance. Severr.l lots of good ewes were penned, and tor these there was good inquiry. and most changed hands at fair prices, but for all other classes the market was decidedly easier. Few fat cattle came forward, ami these, sold readily at full value; store cattle were poorly competed for, and only very lew sold. Our yarding included 4095 sheep, of which number 2698 sold; 126 head of cattle, 26 sold; 11 pigs all sold. The following prices were realised during the day;—Fat ewes I (5/3 to 19-: fat two-tooth ewes and wethers 19/6 to 21/-: fat lambs light 17/9 to IS/2; 4-tooth ewes 20/-;; 0-tooth ewes 20/6; 4 aaul 5 year old ewes 17/1 to 20/-: 5-year ewes 10/9 to 19/-; low conditioned ewes 9/-; broken mouth ewes 4/9: cull Jourtooth ewes 14/11; cull 2-tooth ewes II >3 to 131); forward lambs 14/9; store lambs 12/6 to 12/9; cull lambs 3/y to 7/-; fat cows Til 2s 6tl ; store steers £9 12s 6d ; store cows £4 to £6; pigs.
