HOME RULE BILL.
LORDS AGREE TO COMMONS AMENDMENTS. ROYAL ASSENT EXPECTED IN A FEW DAYS. ULSTER SHOULD HAVE PARLIAMENT BY JUNE. LONDON, Dec. 17. The Daily News says the political situation is grave and the fate of the Home Rule Bill is uncertain. It is thought the Peers will be unlikely to give way in connection with their amendments. Representatives of the Upper House and members of the Cabinet are in consultation, but thus far there is no prospect of a compromise.— A. and N.Z.C.A. (Received December 19. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Dec. 18. After a debate the House of Lords agreed to the House of Commons amendments to the Home Rule Bill, the opposing peers deciding not to vote. The Bill will receive Royal Assent in a few days.
