NINE SOUTHERN FIRMS TO BE SUMMONED.
WERE THE CHARGES UNREASONABLE ?
CHRISTCHURCH, «.u!y 29. Nine informations alleging breaches of the anti-profiteering section of the Board of Trade Act, 1919. liav.e been laid against two Christchurch firms, a Lyttelton firm and a Christchurch chemist by the secretary of the local 1 rice Investigation Tribunal. Six of the nine informations have been laid against a firm' of tobacco importers and fancy goods merchants, and- all_ relate to an alleged unreasonably nigh price charged for Clarence cigarettes. Another firm of merchants is being proceeded against on a similar charge m respect of the same brand of cigarettes. A local chemist is being proceeded against for having, it is alleged, charged an unreasonably high price tor a “winchester” (half a gallon) of borai. This is a proprietary line as a mouth wash and disinfectant. The Lyttelton firm is to be called upon. to answer a charge of selling rabbit traps-at a price alleged to be unreasonably high.—P.A.
