CRISIS IN CHINA.
WHOLE BRIGADE OF FRONTIER
TROOPS CAPTURED,
SITUATION AT PEKIN UNCHANGED.
(Received July 18. 5.5 p.m.) PEKIN. July 16.
The advance of troops of the 15th Division, supported by guns, drove back Wu-Pei-Fiier’s outposts. Twenty-one were wounded. Frontier, troops reached Pekin on Friday, fighting outposts also nest Loga. Frontier troops are using old French aeroplanes for scouting with Chinese pilots. A later message stated that Wu-Pei-Fuer’s forces surrounded and captured a whole brigade of frontier troops. Two regiments of the 15th Division went over to Wu-Pei-Fuer.
Fighting is proceeding at two points. "Wounded arriving in trains from Tientsin were attacked and some Chinese wounded.—Reuter.

The rival forces in this neighborhood have withdrawn and tranquility has been restored. The run on native banks ceased. The military situation at Peking is unchanged, but prospects of peace are hopeful.—A. and N.Z.C.A. NEW YORK, July 16. The Times' Pekin correspondent reports that the Anfu General Tuan Chi Jui, who was the former Premier of China, asked the' President to issue a mandate forbidding any fighting between The anti-militarists and the Anfu forces. — A. and N.Z.
