MASKED BALL.
BRILLIANT SCENES AT GARRISON HALL.
A brilliant spectacle was afforded in the Garrison Hall last night, when what must have been one of the most successful functions of the kind in Gisborne was held under the auspices of the Girls’ Emergency Club. The decorative scheme, embodying the use of a large amount of greenery and hunting, was carried out in excellent taste, the whole effecting s remarkable beautification of the large hall. Supper tables, screened off from the body of the hall, ran the full length of the building, with vases of pink geraniums lending a pretty effect. The attendance was exceptionally large, fully 600 being present, the majority in fancy dress." Costumes in great variety and of ingenious designs gave a brilliant effect to the scene.
The orchestra, comprising __ Mrs. Thompson and Messrs. J. "[fridge, B. Smith and J. Davis, was responsible for excellent music throughout the evening. Flags and hunting were kindly lent by Adair Bros., the Harbor Board, and the G.S.F-M. Co. Mr. A. S. Parker provided the motor car used in the preparation of the floor. Messrs. C. W. Hogg. J. Rogers, W. Long and A. S. Parker wei o M.’sC., and Messrs. Jamison, Fyson, Lieut. Burge, Sergt.-Major Morris and the senior cadets rendered excellent service in furthering the arrangements. The thanks of the organisers are also extended to the Cook County Guild and to Messrs. Quirk and Cave for their valuable assistance. y
