MATAWHERO STOCK SALE,

The Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ Association hold the usual weekly sale at Matawheik) yards yesterday.. There was a good attendance of buyers, and the yard'ing contained 350 fat sheep, 15 head of fat cattle. 35 pigs, 2350 store sheep, and! 175 head of store cattle. Bidding was brisk throughout the day, and the market generally showed 1 a decidedly upward tendency, -particularly in hoggets and store cattle of all descriptions. In the fat pens, wethers realised tq 33s (3cl, ewes to 32s 2d. andl 2tli (mixed) Down cross, to 28s 9d. The fat cattle yarded were decidedly on itiho light side. Shorthorn bullocks sold a 3 high as £l7, and .cows, according to weight, to £ll. 10s. Pigs were keen of sale, baconers realising to £5 2s, porkers £2 14s, and weaners to 345. In the. store -pens the highest price given for hoggets was 27s 9d. Store, cattle showed a decided upward tendency, practically all lines 'being sold under the. hammer well' in the vendors’ favor.

The following prices wore realised under the hammer (p) signifying that the lino was passed in at auction : Fat sheep.—7 2th Down cross 28s 9d, 20 owes 29s 3d, 20 ewes 31s 6d, 3 wethers 33s 6d. 2 wethers 29s 6d, 23 ewes 28s, 4 wethers 29s 6d, 76 wethers (p) 33s Gd. 79 ewes 31s, 42 ewes 32s 2d, 75 ewes 30s. Fat cattle.—2 bullocks, Polled cross £l2, 1 cow. dairy .sort £9 12s 6d, 1 cow, Shorthorn cross £lO 10s, 5 cows, Shorthorn cross £ll 10s, 2 bullocks £l3 ss, 2 bullocks. Shorthorn prime £l7, 1 bullock, Jersey cross £l4 10s, 1 cow, dairy sort £B. Pigs.—3 weaners 17s Gd, 5 weaners 21s, 3 baconers light £4 Is, 2 bat-on-ers Light £4, 1 baconer £5 weaners 235, 2 porkers £2 14s, 4 weaners 345, 5 weaners 335, 5 weaners small 20s.
